Let’s work on your story.

I’m Keila and I love stories, so I decided to work on them for a living. We will take your great manuscript and/or ideas and work on them. I'm confident that with my revisions and suggestion they will take their final form. Are you ready for the journey?

Testimonials:

Keila is a skilled editor with a strong attention to detail.  Her feedback is always thorough and thoughtful.  She is a pleasure to work with

and a wonderful mentor for emerging writers.  The volume of Vox in which she edited is a stunning publication, and I have no doubt she

will continue to inspire writers for years to come.

-Andrea Kikuchi / Vox UNBSJ Supervisor

Editing and project management client

I have to admit that I'm biased when it comes to talking about Keila Gallardo Cubas because I've been their mentor in the LGBTQ+ Editors Association since January 2024. However, Keila's skill, astuteness, and enthusiasm for the written word is all their own, and anyone's writing project would be better for having them working on it. When I needed to get the first two chapters and prologue up to par for a grant application, Keila provided eagle-eyed line edits and detailed chapter evaluations that strengthened my overall writing and creative aims. It has been an immense pleasure to watch them grow, and I look forward to working with them again in the future!

-Karen A. Parker / speculative fiction author and book coach

Developmental and line editing client

Keila works with a high level of professionalism with excellent communication and attention to detail. I was most impressed with her ability to enter the fictional world I created and evaluate it from the “inside-out”—pointing to areas where the logic did not work well, where the magic was spot on, where the characters came alive (or did not), and where tone, style, dialog were off. His edits brought a fresh perspective: not just comments or corrections for improvement, but further—insights as to how the fiction exists and could work better. Her advice is rock solid, her evaluations full of enthusiasm

-Alison (Ali) Eldridge / What on Earth Publishing

Freelance writer client

Fairly new Novel-length author here, I had purchased the "Writers on a Budget" package to help understand if my editing style is sufficient for a novel-length project, or if I'll need professional assistance.

The transaction was very professional; all the details hashed out well before money changed hands; and I was given clear understanding of the specifics before; during; and after the project.  The edits suggested and/or made were eye-openers for me.  I found that while not every suggestion was perfect for my intended project and vision; many were; and those that were not often led me to see the project in a new light which led to a different edit than the one suggested, which still ended up making my work easier to read, flow better and more naturally, and over-all be significantly closer to a final product I will be happy to share with the world.

In short, she was a person of her word, she did what was expected or more, and kept a professional demeanor throughout.  Would definitely use again.
